THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT GOLUK’S FIRMWARE UPGRADE
WHY DO I NEED TO UPGRADE MY FIRMWARE
With your purchase of a Goluk dash cam, you don’t just receive a set-in-stone hardware unit, this product has a soul… and souls have a tendency to grow and change.
The so-called ‘soul’ of the dash cam is its firmware.
Think of your iPhone, for instance. Every once and again you will receive a notification prompting you to update your iOS version. It is necessary in order to install an improved version of the embedded software on your device. Similarly, all Goluk’s devices come with updatable firmware.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO UPGRADE MY FIRMWARE
Goluk releases a new firmware every 3-4 weeks. Ideally, you should keep up-to-date with the latest firmware upgrades and install them promptly. Following our firmware update schedule will allow your device to function properly and make sure that you can take advantage of all the newly added and enhanced functions.
Sometimes firmware updates may come more often. That is because we value your feedback and if you report that something is wrong with the device, we try to fix it as soon as possible. To help us make YOUR experience as positive as possible, please leave your feedback in the Goluk app or via customer service email address: email@example.com.
HOW CAN I UPDATE MY FIRMWARE
When the new firmware update has been released, you will receive a notification through the Goluk app. Clicking the link of the notification will take you to a dedicated page, you can then download the new firmware version and it will be automatically installed onto the device.
Do NOT unplug the dash cam from its power source until the firmware upgrade is successfully completed. Since the power supply in the vehicle can be unreliable sometimes, we recommend completing firmware upgrades when the camera is connected to your computer or other stable power source with the dedicated USB power cable. Power cutoff during the firmware update will lead to damage beyond repair. Products that are damaged during firmware upgrade are not covered by warranty.
If the notification in your app does not pop up for some reason, you can also follow the steps below to complete your firmware upgrade:
Connect your dash cam with your phone, tap the settings icon in the top right-hand corner of your screen, scroll down to find ‘About’ and tap to enter this section. Here you will see whether or not
♦ Pro Tip: If you’re experiencing a problem with your Goluk dash cam, make sure to mention your current firmware version to the customer service. This will help Goluk support troubleshoot the problem quicker.
